Non-repectful disbelief!
We should be respectful of most believers in woo,whether in the supernatural or the paranormal, what the late Paul Kurtz called " The Transcendental Temptation," a must read book. Nevertheless, the big-time purveyors like Billy Graham, haughty John Haught and Sylvia Brown[e] and Alexander van Praagh merit our derision and satire.
Spinoza says to understand people, but be nice; Jefferson says to mock such fools!
We must have honest inquiry in both fields,but the evidence already mocks both! We need not examine every claim.
We rationalists have the duty and the right to mock such twaddle. We reflect the need of society for educating others about such emotional, intellectual and sometimes monetary scams. We partake in society; we are participants on the public square. Purveyors of woo also have the right to partake in society and in the public square; we seek only to overcome their seduction of others.
